Below, you will find a list of events that the Akhtar Association has organised in the past, as part of its cultural sharing initiatives.

Dance show and workshops

November 25 and 26, 2023

In celebration of the 2023 Christmas market and in partnership with the Maison de Quartier des Pâquis, our association is thrilled to provide a variety of free activities.

We will be offering performances and classes in Georgian, Azeri, and American tribal fusion. These activities are open to everyone.

Additionally, the visual content for this event was created by the Akhtar Association, thanks to the dedication of our volunteer graphic designers.

Festival Extravadanza! 2023

June 9 to 11, 2023

Themed around "sharing," the 4th edition of our Extravanza! festival will provide the Geneva audience with the opportunity to explore the creations of artists engaged in diverse disciplines such as: Tahitian dance, Sufi dance, Azeri dance, Kathak, or Saïd dance.

Conference and whirling dance workshops by Nicole McLaren

June 9 and 10, 2023

Our association is delighted to host Ms. Nicole McLaren in Geneva for the first time.

She will conduct a conference and two technical courses, providing everyone with the opportunity to explore whirling dance as a tool for well-being

As part of its Creative Synergies project, the Akhtar Association is thrilled to present this dance tale for both young and old audiences. Immerse yourself in a story from another era, brought to life by around thirty artists from diverse disciplines.

This project is built upon an original text by Cristina Fraiz and is narrated with remarkable eloquence by Nabintou Karamoko.

As part of the 2022 Christmas market organized by the Maison de Quartier des Pâquis, our association is excited to offer several free activities.

Thus, performances and classes in oriental dance with a veil and Neo-Charleston will be offered at no cost.

Back by popular demand, our association will also have a stand featuring world crafts. Additionally, Akhtar has provided the visual design for this event at no cost, thanks to one of our graphic designers.

Dance workshops and folk ball

October 15, 2022

In collaboration with Katia Romano, we are thrilled to present this exploration of folk dance and tarantella accompanied by live music.

With the vibrant tunes of Tarantelle del Sud and the Trio Pamplemouse, the evening will culminate in a folk ball, providing an opportunity to put into practice the steps learned during the two preceding workshops.

Festival Extravadanza! 2022

June 11 and 12, 2022

The Akhtar Association welcomes you to the third edition of the Extravadanza! festival.

Join us on a captivating journey through the dances of the Silk Road, traverse North Africa, and venture into South America to witness both native and contemporary dance forms.

Embark on this vibrant and colorful dance exploration that is sure to captivate and amaze.

World dance workshops and meditation

June 12, 2022

Akhtar invites you to the Maison des Associations in Geneva for an enchanting journey into various dances from around the world.

Treat yourself an experience the elegance of Amina Laforce and her Uighur dance. Let yourself be carried away by the energy of Farida Kurbanova and her Uzbek dance. Connect to the ancestral rhythms with the help of Regiane Steffen and the caboclinho of Brazil.

This emotionally rich day will conclude with a soothing sound meditation featuring singing bowls. Come and join us for this unique experience!

During the 2021 Christmas market at the Maison de Quartier des Pâquis, Akhtar will offer several free cultural activities.


Enjoy complimentary oriental dance performances and workshops. The Dunya Tribe dance troupe will also present a one-hour dance performance accompanied by the musical group Smile Family.

Our association will also have a booth featuring world crafts.

To support this community event, the visual and promotional materials were developed at no cost by one of our graphic designers.

Festival Extravadanza! 2021

After a challenging period of pandemic confinement, Geneva artists are thrilled to reconnect with their audience!
 

The Akhtar association is delighted to announce the 2nd edition of its Extravadanza! festival, which will be dedicated to solidarity.

In strict adherence to socio-sanitary standards, you will have the opportunity to experience caucasian dances, andalusi dance, sword-fusion dancing, italian tarantella, indian Bharatanatyam, gipsy dances, egyptian shaabi, and even hagala!

Join us for workshops where you can explore the art of tarantella, shaabi, and sword dancing. What are you waiting for?

Intensive tribal fusion workshops by Manca Pavli

April, May and June 2020

The Akhtar Association is delighted to host Mrs. Manca Pavli.

As a highly skilled artist, she will be making her debut in Geneva for three intensive dance training weekends dedicated to muscle isolation and tribal fusion techniques.

Extravadanza Day! 2019

In this inaugural edition of Extravadanza!, the Akhtar Association is excited to present a diverse array of dance styles, including: Tajik dance, Beledi, Hawaiian dance, Tahitian dance, Arab-contemporary, Urban-fusion, Indian fusion, Tango, Flamenco and Swing.

Complimentary workshops in Oriental  and Tahitian dance will also be offered. Join us!
